The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for a driver who struck and killed a woman in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of South L.A. early Tuesday morning.

Just after midnight, a vehicle headed north on Figueroa Street hit a woman who was riding a scooter west across Figueroa near the intersection with Colden Avenue, police said in a news release.

The vehicle continued on Figueroa without stopping to help or identify themselves, police said.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was declared dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available for information leading to the driver. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Lopez Del Haro at 323-421-2500.
